Happy 2019 everyone!! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. The holidays are such an awesome time but also such a strange time…it’s so weird to be off a schedule. We spent a week over Christmas traveling in California, which was nice.
We are now a family of twelve in Mike’s family and so we have outgrown the family house! We decided to go to Cali this year to make the travel easier for his youngest brother and their wife who welcomed a little boy earlier this year. We rented a great house in La Jolla. La Jolla is a gorgeous seaside community that’s part of San Diego, with a typically wonderful SoCal climate. The Spanish originally coined the name of the city which means “the jewel.”
We spent time shopping around town…
…seeing the famous seals and sea lions in the cove!
Lots of hiking…
Then, erased the hiking with lots of eating, of course!
In addition to Duke’s and Whisknladle, we also loved George’s at the Cove (for both brunch and dinner) and Puesto, which is artisinal Mexican.
Other than that, we just spent time walking at the beach…
And generally just hanging at home and enjoying the pretty view from our house!
The day after Christmas, Mike and I got up and drove to Disneyland, his happy place 🙂 We stayed the night at The Grand Californian, which I’d also definitely recommend. It was nice and so easy to walk into the park from there. Their pretty tree was absolutely enormous!
We had an awesome meal at Napa Rose that night. I love, love all the fresh food in Cali!
And, will not forget sunsets like this one!
Hope your New Year is off to a good start! And, congrats to all of us for almost getting through this week!
