Money.com Recommends These Hotels

This best in travel guide highlights 20 destinations around the world that cure wanderlust without taxing your wallet. To create the list, they analyzed more than 43,000 data points collected from dozens of sources, including Kayak.com. Here are their 20 top-rated hotels in their 20 best places to go in 2019. Has anyone stayed at any of these? I may check out the one in Jekyll Island, GA since it’s so close…

Cocktails As Dessert – What’s Better?

I love to drink my dessert 🙂 Served throughout Italy’s Veneto region, sgroppino is a bracing mix of lemon sorbet and prosecco punctuated with a splash of vodka, limoncello liqueur or both—served in a Champagne glass. Chef Roberto Gatto of Cip’s Club at Venice’s Cipriani Hotel blends the ingredients together, then freezes the mixture just long enough to solidify it. He serves his sgroppino as a dessert, with a spoon. Sounds so refreshing!

SJP Brings You Wine

Sarah Jessica Parker helped bring New York City’s cocktail culture to the mainstream with Sex and the City, but for 2019, the actress apparently has a new drink of choice: wine. And not just drinking it on some television show, but putting her stamp on a couple of signature bottles as well. Parker will be collaborating with the New Zealand-based wine company Invivo to debut her own line of wines this summer — starting with the warm weather options of a Sauvignon Blanc and Rosé. (It’s almost Rosé season!)

World’s Largest Underwater Restaurant Opens

On Norway’s coast, the “Under” restaurant offers fine dining among the fishes. While the ambitious project isn’t the world’s first undersea eatery (I featured the Conrad Maldives Rangali resort a few months back), it is the world’s largest underwater restaurant and the first in Europe. Its thick concrete walls were built to endure southern Norway’s famously dramatic weather conditions. Could you all eat underwater? I would love to try it —although it’s got to be a bit claustrophobic!

Sommeliers of the Year 2019

This year’s top wine talents are redefining wine lists across the country by focusing on new varieties, new regions, and, most importantly, new voices. Above, Taylor Grant from Scopa, Old Lightning and Dama. Her most recent project: a new wine label, Tresomm, launched with a couple of sommelier friends, using French and Italian grape varieties grown in Mexico’s Valle de Guadalupe. One of the bottles she recommends looks like the perfect summer drink (which I’ll be trying)!

The Best of Scandinavian Architecture

See how the architecture firm Snøhetta brought the best of Scandinavian design to the world over the past 30 years. A new book surveys the firm, which has designed such high-profile structures as the National September 11 Memorial Museum Pavilion, and explores some of its most notable creations. Pictured from 2016, Lascaux IV: The International Centre for Cave Art is cut into the landscape of Montignac, France, connecting the building to the terrain in such a cool way.

Leaving Neverland

It only takes about two minutes into Leaving Neverland (Netflix) to realize that Michael Jackson’s legacy is never going to be the same again. In a disturbing new documentary, accusers Wade Robson and James Safechuck (pictured with director Dan Reed) share their stories of what happened to them at the hands at the world’s most famous pop star. It is completely graphic and so very disturbing. Has anyone watched?

I hope everyone has a wonderful and relaxing rest of your weekend!
