Happy Mother's Day!…Here’s this week’s Sunday Seven in wine, food, lifestyle, design and travel.

Hello, friends…Here’s this week’s Sunday Seven in wine, food, lifestyle, design and travel!

Heavenly Floating Hotels

Hotels have been pushing the envelope of architecture and design for decades, and the floating hotel continues to reimagine the idea of a traditional resort. Pictured above is The Floating Venice, opening in Dubai next year. This underwater vessel resort is a city within itself. Above sea level, the Italian-inspired hotel is designed to look Venetian, complete with canals and gondolas. There are 24 pools, 12 floating beaches, and above as well as underwater suites. Below deck are boutique shops, three restaurants and bars, plus the world’s first floating underwater spa. More of this and others at the link!

Happy Brunching

Love and Lemons is one of my favorite food blogs – she posts weekly recipes that are healthy and vegetarian. She recently published a cookboook, also, that will not disappoint! These brunch recipes are from the cookbook, which is available on Amazon. I tried these It comes as no surprise that I’m crazy for these Lemon Cornmeal Pancakes with Blueberries recently – they were a light, bright brunch for spring.

Rosé Mansion Living

The very popular Rosé Mansion returns in June — and its bigger and boozier. Starting June 1, the second floor of the Manhattan Mall (near Penn Station) will be completely taken over by the pop-up. Across 14 very-Instagrammable rooms, guests will learn about the process of wine-making and its history. You can not only sip on rosé as you go, but the new rooms offer plenty of space for photo moments. I know this is geared towards Millenials but is it so terrible that I really want to go?!

Sonoma Sparkles!

Sparkling sales have seen positive growth since 2016 and are currently up 5% over the previous year – and Sonoma seems to be focusing on this growth area. Louis Roderer recently purchased a winery in the area as did E. & J. Gallo, Jackson Family Wines and Foley Family Wines. Projects big and small around sparkling production are underway and seem to be the buzz in the area. More on how Sonoma producers are intent on making their sparkling mark at the link.

Women Who Helped Shape a Movement

The Bauhaus school of art and design, founded by architect Walter Gropius, was conceived in the early 20th century as part of a goal to rebuild society following the First World War. It is celebrating it’s 100th anniversary this year and continues to be widely celebrated as the institution from which the pioneers of modernism emerged. A lesser-known part of its legacy, however, is that during its time, the Bauhaus was one of very few academic institutions to accept female students such as Ruth Consemüller, a textile designer, pictured here. More about the often-overlooked women of the Bauhaus at the link.

Royal Baby Watch News

And in other Mother’s Day-appropriate news, you know I’m following the Royal Baby watch! I loved the pics from their first photoshoot. More from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s first photo-op with Baby Archie at the link.

New Cruising Options

Last but not least, Ritz-Carlton and Virgin are both launching their first cruise ships next year. I’m a big fan of both brands but especially the Ritz brand seems to translate well to cruising – the first of Ritz-Carlton’s three sleek, smallish, predictably super-posh ships contains 149 cabins, each with a balcony and a mini-fridge custom-stocked with your drinks of choice. Check out more of the Ritz ships here – I’m completely sold on the sound of this experience!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful Moms out there! Hope you all have such a great Sunday 🙂
