The Sunday Seven 10.20.19

Happy Sunday! This week’s Sunday Seven in wine, food, lifestyle, design and travel.

Happy Sunday! Here’s this week’s Sunday Seven in wine, food, lifestyle, design and travel.

Climate Change & Wine

Viticulture is complicated, and as the world’s climates are transformed, it is only becoming more so. But there are some positives to global warming – the wine map is expanding to make places like England a viable producer. In areas like Burgundy, Barolo, Champagne and the Mosel, where great vintages were once rare, warmer growing seasons have made it easier to produce consistently exceptional wines.

Fall Fashion Trends

This time of year rolls around, it gets cold, and I always feel like I have nothing to wear! I did a little digging into Fall trends for shopping inspiration. Turns out designers have declared everything from power shoulders to micro-micro bags on trend – and millenial purple is a real thing.

Stolen Dali

Like out of a movie…a thief walked into a San Francisco gallery last Sunday afternoon, plucked a rare Salvador Dalí from an easel in the front window, and walked out the door. The artwork was a limited-edition hand-colored 1960s Surrealist etching titled “The Giraffe on Fire”. Normally, the Spanish artist’s work would be tethered to the easel, Mr. Hopkins said, but on the day of the theft it was not.

Colors of 2020

As we head into 2020, Benjamin Moore has announced its Color of the Year for 2020, “a soft, rosy color blooming with potential” called First Light, which is a very pale pink. In addition to First Light, there are nine other “harmonious hues” to represent a forward-thinking next decade. Happy hue-hunting!

Fire Island Minimalism

Just a little home tour for inspiration today as we leave summer behind – Jeffrey Kalinsky’s home renovation in the Pines section of Fire Island. His house is a rectangular, three-bedroom, three-bathroom structure located right on the bay, and is a testament to the charms of minimalism, peace, and serenity.

Simple Sheet Pan Dinners

I love the idea of these dinners  – make the whole thing on a sheet pan! These ideas are filled with fresh vegetables and packed with your favorite proteins, and because you’re only using one pan, clean up is a breeze. Pictured: Superfood baked salmon, which I may have to try.

MOMA Makeover

MoMA closed its doors on June 15 to complete a $450 million makeover, and will reopen tomorrow in NYC. The renovated space includes an additional 165,000 square feet of gallery space, while making the artwork more accessible to the public. The best part in my opinion – MoMA’s collection will now include roughly 28% of works that were done by women, and 21% will have been created by lesser-known artists from outside of Western Europe, the U.S., and Canada.

Hope you all have a wonderful and relaxing rest of your weekend!
