Robin, thanks for the question! I think it really depends on your preferences. We had four people in the car, and with lively conversation, the rides didn&#039;t feel long. Plus, most drives—but especially from Porto into the Douro Valley—were incredibly scenic. The longest leg was Lisbon to Porto. While trains are definitely an option, we enjoy the flexibility of having a car and the freedom to come and go on our own schedule.
