Healthy Habits: Eating & Drinking

Happy New Year! Some new wellness ideas — what to eat and drink to stay healthy all year.

Happy new year, all! So many New Year’s resolutions are around drinking more water, exercise, eating healthier, and drinking less alcohol. I am not a big resolution person, but I am a routine person. I’m always trying out new wellness routines to see which ones stick and turn into healthy habits. And, I am trying to be more intentional this year, overall.

I am always interested in what other people are eating and drinking to stay healthy, and get lots of questions about the same, so today I’m sharing! These are things I have been doing for a while and that have worked well for me.

AG1 by Athletic Greens

I have been drinking AG1 for a couple of years now. It comes as a powder and you just mix it in water to drink. One daily serving of this eliminates the need for other supplements such as multivitamins, antioxidants, superfood blends, adaptogens, digestive enzymes, prebiotics and probiotics. It is also supposed to help with bloating and gut health. I love that it has so many nutrients in it and that I know I’m getting those every day by just drinking this one drink. And, I love the taste — it tastes just like a green juice, but does not have a bitter aftertaste at all.

Hot Water with Lemon

I try and drink one of these per day, and I’m pretty good at sticking with it, especially in the cooler months. Lemon, like other citrus fruits, is very high in vitamin C, which is essential for the production of collagen (and collagen, as you know, is responsible for the elasticity and strength of the skin). Vitamin C is also a powerful antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals present in the skin.

Golden Latte by Four Sigmatic

If you are looking for a non-caffeinated coffee substitute, I have been loving this golden Latte by Four Sigmatic, You just pour the little pouch and add water.  These are made with organic Turkey Tail mushroom which helps to support well-being and has all the antioxidant properties. This is all organic — also dairy-free and gluten-free. It tastes like a yummy warming drink, not like mushrooms

Healthy Snacks

I am trying to be more intentional about what I snack on. I used to snack on anything and everything, all day, and now I try to limit to a couple of low-calorie or high-protein snacks per day. These four are pretty strong on my rotation. I like the packaged snacks because they are really easy to throw in my purse or bag for travel. But in addition to these options, I also do a lot of fruit, string cheese, and nuts when at home.

HSM Smoothie

I start my day with a smoothie and this is the mother of morning smoothies — 27g of protein, 23g of fiber, seven servings of greens, healthy fats and omega-3s. It is one of the best things you can eat to stay full all morning. I follow the recipe, except I use my AG1 greens powder (above) instead of the Catie’s greens that it calls for.

Cymbiotika Supplements

These are new supplements to me but I am loving them so far! I’m taking:

  • Golden Mind (cognitive function, focus)
  • Liposomal Glutathione (antioxidant, combats aging, promotes gut health)
  • Magnesium L-Threonate (boosts brain power, balances mood)
  • Liposomal Vitamin D3 + K2 + CoQ10 (immunity, bone health, cardio health),
  • Liposomal Vitamin B12 + B6 (energy, mood, and heart health)

I like how clean the brand is, how carefully sourced their ingredients are, and how you don’t have to swallow a lot of pills — most of these are in easy-to-go pouches that you squeeze to eat.

Jason Natural Toothpaste

I know we don’t really classify toothpaste as eating — but since it’s going in my mouth I thought I’d mention it 🙂 I’ve been trying to incorporate more clean beauty routines for a while and finally made the switch to clean toothpaste. This one contains no fluoride and is made with organic coconut oil, peppermint oil, and other natural ingredients. I thought it might be gross but I have to say I love the taste!

Cheers!
