Around this time of year, I start thinking about holiday parties. I know it seems early, but they will be here before you know it! I used to try and swing everything last minute — it was a hot mess and wasn’t that much fun to be running around day-of. Now, I plan ahead and try and think through what I need for each event and order anything new that I need early-on, so I’m ready when the time comes. Here are some of my holiday essentials for parties.
The Dresses
These are a few dresses I just ordered to try. If anyone is wondering, I definitely re-wear them across different groups! Who has time or budget for literally a new outfit for each event?
FRAME Metallic Fil Coupé Minidress
For more casual get-togethers I love a long sweater and faux leather leggings. There are several good leather leggings out there, but my go-to are the Spanx ones below.
Wool+ Cashmere Boatneck Sweater
The Accessories
I always have a few pairs of big earrings on hand for tossing on with a simple outfit to really make it festive.
Rebecca Minkoff Envelope Clutch
There are so many cute clutches out there but this Rebecca Minkoff envelope clutch with zipper detail is a strong go-to of mine! Love the metallic tones for holiday.
Parker Suede Boot
Just bought these to wear with jeans and leggings. A good deal and more slouchy in real life.
Lane Ankle Strap Sandal
A gold shoe is always fun and holiday-appropriate!
The Guys
Here are a few of Mike’s go-to holiday outfits…
Italian Wool Speckled Sweater
Easy casual sweater for lower-key get togethers.
Crown Soft Quarter-Zip Pullover
A good basic like this can pull together any pair of dark jeans and a button down.
Ludlow Blazer in Herringbone English Tweed
Our friend had this on the other night and he really liked it so we just ordered this. He’ll wear a blazer this with dark jeans and a white shirt for most parties.
Non-Iron Slim Fit Shirt
If anyone has found a better non-iron shirt let me know, but this is his current classic frontrunner!
Don’t Leave Home Without…
Cell Phone Charger Case
There’s nothing worse than your battery running out – how do you call your Uber home, Instagram, or order a late-night pizza?! 😉 This is about as small as it gets for fitting in your bag.
Wine wipes
If you drink as much red wine as I do these are a lifesaver!
Juicy Tubes Lip Gloss
One of my favorite glosses and easy to throw in your purse.
Laura Mercier Matte
This is my favorite mattifier and usually comes with me to parties for a late-evening touch up!
Candle
I keep candles in stock to grab on the way to someone’s house. I like a festive themed candle for the holidays. They usually come in pretty boxes, and you can just wrap a big bow around the box if you’re running out of time!
Wine!
I never show up to someone’s house without wine. The two I am recommending below are absolute crowd-pleasers if you are looking for something to bring and want a sure bet!
Under $25:
The Pessemist
Under $50
The Prisoner
Single or Double Tote
A little jacket for your wine…(hand-tie a big red bow on it).
Leather jacket
…And a little jacket for yourself!
Pre- and Post- Party
Milk Thistle
Do you know about Milk Thistle? It’s a life-changer. It is a supplement for liver health, so great to take BEFORE you go out for a big night where you know you’re going to have drinks! I swear it keeps the hangovers away!!
PJs
Nothing better than coming home at the end of the night! 😄
Cheers!
