Last looks from Italy. Three day trips from our ba Last looks from Italy. Three day trips from our base in Taormina: Syracuse and Ortigia for their ancient history and waterfront charm, Savoca for its timeless Sicilian character, and Castelmola, sitting high above Taormina, for the most insane views of Mt. Etna and the Ionian Sea (so much so that I had several fear-of-heights moments).

One minute we were standing inside the 75-foot-tall Ear of Dionysius cave, famous for its haunting echoes; the next we were walking through the real-life setting of The Godfather. That's Sicily. 🇮🇹❤️
Taormina: our home base for Sicily and where we sp Taormina: our home base for Sicily and where we spent most of our trip. Rich history, spectacular food, endless views, and great moments with good friends. Hard to imagine a better way to spend a week than in a place as beautiful as this. 🙏🏻🤍 ✨
Rome: just a short stop on either end of our trip, Rome: just a short stop on either end of our trip, but we easily could have stayed a month. Amazing food, all the history, getting happily lost down streets and alleyways, and so much shopping — including a real trap at the airport, of all places 🍝✨🤦🏼‍♀️
Mt Etna: the native grapes here – Nerello Mascales Mt Etna: the native grapes here – Nerello Mascalese and Carricante – grow in black lava soils on these terraced vineyards high on the mountain, creating wines with energy and lots of minerality. We spent the day tasting our way across the region before driving to the top of Etna herself, walking among lava fields and taking in the incredible views!
