Happy weekend, friends! Here’s this week’s Sunday Seven in wine, food, lifestyle, design and travel.
Bob Hope’s ‘spaceship’ house overlooking Coachella Valley is being restored by 100 craftsmen using architect John Lautner’s original plans for the masterpiece. Lautner never approved of the way Hope decorated and landscaped the house, later distancing himself from his own creation. See the work in progress at the link.
As someone in tech, I can tell you AI is taking over the world already, but even I didn’t see AI and alcoholic beverages being a match. Now, a brand in Sweden is releasing the first AI-made whiskey. The blend is made by taking data like its recipes, sales informaation and customer preferences and having them generate the perfect recipe. Pretty cool.
I loved living in California with all of the indoor/outdoor living – this is one thing you just can’t do the same way in the South! Blending the outdoors with the indoors is always on trend. At the link, some modern spaces feature indoor-outdoor designs that take this concept to the next level.
When you’re taking a big trip to Europe, going to the beach tends to fall down the list with so much culture to experience, cheese to eat, and wine to drink! But this list focuses on the stunning beaches. This beautiful photo is from La Scala dei Turchi in Sicily – love those layers of color!
Natural wine is made from grapes without with pesticides or herbicides. The grapes are handpicked, and native yeast is used to set off natural fermentation. Most notably, the wine is made without additives. More about what natural wine specifically – and other facts on this highly debated and endlessly complicated topic – at the link!
I had fun scrolling through these gorgeous destinations. The Mediterranean is an ideal spot for design lovers this year with a surge of grand openings, stylish renovations, and sophisticated expansions. Sign me up for the Four Seasons in Greece!
A hack to elevate weeknight pasta – and I can appreciate this because I eat a lot of it! A halo of ricotta is placed around the pasta with back of a spoon, topped with hot al dente spaghetti and an unfussy marinara sauce of olive oil, minced garlic, and tomatoes. Top with fresh shredded basil, and you have a delicious weeknight meal!
Hope all the Dads out there have a wonderful Father’s Day!
