Happy Sunday! I’m sharing this week’s picks in wine, food, lifestyle, design and travel. How to choose between cork and screw, key traveler desires shaping hotel trends, and much love to the beautiful SoCal.

Icelandic Mirrored Escape
I just booked a trip to Iceland and ran across this new luxury getaway, ÖÖD Hekla Horizon, that really stuck me. The property has seven mirrored houses meant to look invisible in the landscape, ensuring unobstructed views for a picture-perfect stay. Each home comes with perks like a hot tub and sauna, and there’s even a “Northern Lights Lounge” for enjoying the stunning nighttime displays in complete comfort!

Choosing Between Cork and Screw
Corks and screw caps both preserve wine but have different strengths. Corks allow oxygen transfer, benefiting aging wines, but can be inconsistent and prone to faults like cork taint. Screw caps, known for their consistency, are less prone to contamination and ideal for wines consumed young. Here, winemakers and somms share their insights on when each closure is best.

2025’s Best Cities Ranking
A very comprehensive 2025 World’s Best Cities report by Resonance and Ipsos ranks over 270 global cities for livability, lovability, and prosperity. London takes the top spot this year! Beautiful pictures and a great resource for travel research!

The Perfect Drinking Glasses
I’m currently on the hunt for new drinking glasses, and the search for the perfect set is important when you think about the fact that you will be using them every single day! To help guide a similar process, Wine & Food consulted bar and restaurant industry professionals, considering key factors such as volume, material, and versatility in their recommendations.

Serious Snacks and Apps
From air-fried everything to Caesared spins and a whole lot of potatoes, these are the snack and appetizer recipes that rose to the top for website Serious Eats last year. Perfect for all the football-watching happening right now!

Hotel Trends Shaping Travel
What are modern travelers expecting? They are seeking transformative experiences with hotels offering personalized encounters. Technology, like AI, is enhancing human hospitality. Sustainability and community involvement are priorities, with hotels aiming to be responsible neighbors. This and more at the link!

Love to SoCal’s Iconic Landmarks and Homes
The recent fires in Southern California have been absolutely heartbreaking to watch. This shines a light on architectural gems affected by the fires. Iconic landmarks like the Getty Villa and Eames House are currently safe at the time I’m writing this, but others like the Will Rogers Estate, the Bunny Museum, and the Pasadena Jewish Temple were lost. I know we’re all praying for the winds to die down and progress to be made soon.
Hope you all have a wonderful and relaxing rest of your weekend~
