Hello, friends and Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms!
On Sundays, I’ve been sharing a list of 7 things that have caught my eye online over the past week. Here’s this Sunday’s seven in wine, food, style, design and travel:
Saw this article for this Sonoma wine country house, which is absolute perfection! And, then I wanted more… so I found this other gallery… and now I’m obsessed with this architect! Timeshare, anyone?
This week from May 9-11, New York–based JetBlue Airlines flew 350 NY-style cheese and pepperoni pizzas from JFK to LAX, and then delivered them directly to the front doors of pizza-heathen Angelinos. I’m not sure this is the best stunt marketing I’ve ever heard of, but hey, I’m writing about it aren’t I? And I LOVE PIZZA. So it made the cut.
Moving on to a group of people that definitely didn’t eat pizza this week..fashion’s biggest night, The Met Gala, happened Monday. I’m linking a gallery of some of the over-the-top fashion goodness for anyone who wants to look at the gorgeous dresses. Here are a few highlights from the night: Rihanna got all the eyes, Scarlett Johannson made a support statement by wearing Marchesa (fitting, since Georgina Chapman broke her silence this week in Vogue). And given the Met Gala theme, “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” – Queen Madonna performed.
Or, you can just watch Jimmy Fallon’s recap here: 😀
Anyone looking for an inexpensive weekend getaway? Among those making the cut here are Memphis, DC, Providence RI, Flagstaff, and Greenville SC, covering why it’s worth it and the best cheap thing to do and see in the areas. I love the idea of seeing more great places right here in the US!
Loving this piece on how e-bikes are changing the way we travel. Last summer when Mike and I stayed at Belmond El Encanto in Santa Barbara (which is heavenly, if anyone is considering a trip) there were e-bikes on the property and they were SO much fun! Truly a game-changer for seeing places that may have been hard to get to via 2 wheels previously.
For all of you that buy wine off the look of the bottle, this one is for you! In all seriousness, sometimes the bottle can offer clues to the flavor and quality of the wine inside. I’m laughing as I write this because I bought that second bottle from the left in a store recently — mainly because I wanted to try Gavi, a popular Italian white, but also because it was the best-looking options from the Gavi on the shelf! Guilty!
Last weekend in Asheville we had some Ramps from Cùrate that were the surprise hit of the dinner dishes that night. I’m going to be honest I had heard of ramps but had never had them before. Now I’m seeing them everywhere and I wanted to learn more! Here’s what you need to know about ramps as well as some recipes for ramps if you don’t want to miss out on their short season!
And just a little extra – this one is for the Moms!
Have a great rest of your day!

I cannot believe that I had no idea that Georgina Chapman was married to Harvey Weinstein! I don’t remember anyone mentioning that. So crazy, I am going to read the Vogue article now.
What?!?! Yes it’s a whole thing… Poor girl, right?…
Great recap. I enjoy these every week!
Awesome – thanks for reading!
