Venice Beach Living
Soon after actor Noah Mills bought his beach bungalow in Venice, CA, he started planning a remodel. It had a large lot with lots of privacy — on a lush, green property, previously owned by a landscape architect. They gutted it and added a second story and a rooftop deck. Noah was inspired by Scandinavian interiors, imagining a clean, modern cabin. But because of what he calls a “happy mistake”—the final result is more midcentury than expected. “It’s a little bit dated, in a fun way,” says Noah. I love everything about this design—check it out!
Your Next Uber Could Be a Submarine
Ooohhh – so cool! The Great Barrier Reef, off the coast of Queensland, Australia, is known for it’s stunning fish and coral. Alongside top-notch snorkeling and diving, there is also a new way to explore the idyllic area. The Queensland government and Uber recently announced the launch of scUber, the world’s first rideshare submarine. The $3,000 AUD (about $2,060) experience includes round-trip transfers in a Tesla; a scenic helicopter ride to and from Heron Island or the Quicksilver Cruises pontoon just off the coast of Port Douglas; and an hour-long ride in the scUber submarine for two people.
Walking on Air
Parks of the future may include elevated walkways through trees! With their bold design, one New York–based design firm is pushing the boundaries of how public parks should be created. Given the lack of space for parks in dense cities, architects, designers, and urban planners have been forced to reimagine the way in which green environments are designed. One NY–based design firm is taking this idea to new heights—literally. Check out this concept park which features elevated walkways that weave in and out of the trees high above the ground. Magical!
Google Now Can Help You With Travel
We all know Google is taking over the world and I personally am ok with it. Google Travel is now working to be the cure-all for our travel booking and planning needs. Google Travel marries all of Google’s existing travel properties—Google Flights, Google Hotels, Google Trips, and Google Maps—into a single destination that can now be used across mobile and desktop. The idea is to provide a single place to organize all the things related to your travel planning for any given trip into one comprehensive itinerary, complete with the ability to edit and adjust different elements of the trip across devices as you go. It sounds like there are a few bugs to work out here, but I will definitely give it a shot soon.
On Trend: Canned Cocktails
I don’t know about you guys but I am hearing about canned cocktails all over the place right now! With lazy-summer days, the invention of ready-to-drink cocktails is definitely appealing—you get the booze you want with the crack of a can, no additional steps necessary. Not only that, but drinks are portable: perfect for picnics, beach days, and concerts in the park —all the summer things! At this link are seven recommendations for canned cocktails. Most Beautiful Places in Europe
This is worth hitting for the gorgeous picture-scrolling alone! If you want to get specific about the most alluring spots in Europe, There’s a grand total of 48 countries to consider, from Iceland in the north to Cyprus in the south, and even out to the Ural Mountains in Russia. The Orange Wine Debate
Orange wines are white wines made like reds, meaning the juice of the grapes macerates along with the skins. The result is an often-tannic wine that can range from a deep gold color to a rusty orange. Also known as skin-contact wines, these can be oxidative, too—that is, having been exposed to oxygen during the winemaking process, they taste and smell nutty, or like brown or bruised fruit, like Sherry can. Orange wines are getting popular in the US and I have tried them a few times now. At this link are more about orange wines and a few recommendations of ones to try!
