The Edit: Loving Lately

What I've been loving and doing lately to stay productive, sane, and relaxed.

It’s been a while since I have done one of these posts. Obviously everyone’s in quarantine, or half-quarantine, or whatever it is where you are – so we’re all doing different things and establishing new routines. Here’s what I’ve been loving, and what I’ve been doing to stay productive, sane, and relaxed.

Binge Watching

I mean, you kind of have to watch TV at least a little bit, right?! This is hands-down my favorite quarantine show discovery. The Great, “an occasionally true story” is a comedy/drama loosely based on the rise of Catherine the Great, Empress of Russia. It stars Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult as the Empress and Emperor of Russia – it’s on Hulu. So, so good – I highly recommend if you haven’t found it yet!

Outdoor Happy Hour-ing

Who knew socially distanced happy hours could be so fun? I don’t think I have ever spent so much time outside and it’s honestly so nice – I feel like the spring season would have just flown by as usual if we weren’t stuck at home, so it’s a nice upside to all this.

The past few weeks, we have been trying to entertain more, having over a few friends at a time.

One of my favorite spring bubbly bottles – Argyle sparkling wine from Willamette Valley.
I have been making individual snack plates when people come over – for no germ-sharing!
I have been organizing our wine collection and trying to drink up older inventory – this chardonnay is from Scribe, one of my favorite vineyards in Sonoma.

Organizing & Home Shopping

I know many of us have been in DIY mode. I have been cleaning out every drawer and closet possible and it’s inspired me to do a bit of sprucing up as well. I finally added new lights in our kitchen, which I have been meaning to do for a year.

Our kitchen with new pendants – Aerin Agnes Pendants
Mike and our friend Jeremy are dry-walling our garage (AKA the home gym)
I have been cataloging all of my various wine storage areas and keeping online spreadsheets of the details of each bottle – so glad this big task is finally checked off the list!

Self Care

I’ve tried to be really good (or at least, better) about skincare lately since I have zero excuses, being home all the time. Below are things I have had for a while but am just trying to be more disciplined about using regularly.

Retin-A

I have used this for years for its renewing and anti-aging properties. I try to apply this 2-3 nights per week.

Skinceuticals Hydrating B5 Moisture-Enhancing Gel

This is a serum that I love because it hydrating as well as exfoliating (hylaluronic acid). I put this on each morning right after I shower.

Drunk Elephant Protein Face Moisturizer

This. is a newer moisturizer I am trying. So far, I feel like it’s really working. for me. This line, Drunk Elephant, is committed to using only ingredients that either directly benefit the health of the skin – you will never find what they call the Suspicious 6 in their line (essential oils, drying alcohols, silicones, chemical sunscreens, fragrances/dyes, SLS)…

Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta Daily Face Peel

These are quick little face peel packets that it says you can do daily, but I do once per week. It’s a 2-step system that takes less than 5 minutes, and it’s just two pre-treated wipes, so no mess to wash off, clean up, etc.

La Mer Eye Cream

I use this nightly. I know its expensive, but I feel like it really works.

Makeup Brush Cleaner

Best brush cleaner, and so cheap on Amazon!. If I’m being honest I wasn’t doing a ton of this prior, either.

Ritual Vitamins

I am also trying to be good with my vitamins. This is my multivitamin, which I can’t recommend enough. If you hit their site you can see each ingredient that goes into the vitamin and where it’s sourced from – so there is no BS in there. I also like that these are on a subscription, so they just show up on my doorstep when needed!

Finding New Favorites

I continue to think wine is cheaper and better than therapy 🙂 Hit this link if you need my Pandemic Wine Survival Guide

This weekend was MDW and we reopened for Phase 2 in NC. It is crazy it’s finally happening! I wasn’t planning on going out but we had a tornado late Friday and quickly lost power. After we realized we’d be without power or a while with no plans for dinner and no way to cook, we decided to try dining out at a local restaurant, Dressler’s. It was the best tasting thing ever! How AMAZING to have a glass of wine brought to you!

The whole experience felt clean and safe. Every other table was left empty, the servers wore masks, and you could even pay by QR scan so that you never had to hand over a card.
I always love this Trig Point Merlot, but it was so wonderful to have food and drinks served to us!
Don’t judge my appearance – remember, no power! I am quite happy to have this drink in my hand though!
The next night – still with no power, I packed up my cheese and moved our pre-planned party to a good friend’s house. We even graduated to one shared board (with separate plates)!

Cheers, friends!
