Barge Cruising Through Wine Country

Doesn’t a cruise past southern Burgundy’s vineyards sound just lovely? A growing number of travelers are choosing tranquil, intimate, historic canal barges over big boat river cruising. If you’re wondering where to begin, this link has some tips on how to find the right one for you. Sidenote: I’ve mentioned here before I’m super-intrigued with river cruising so I really went down a rabbit hole with this article. Do yourself a favor and check out the link to the private Belmond barges.

Low Key Lighting That Transforms

In home trends, designers are pulling back on lighting. The reign of the statement chandelier—all angsty angles and glaring bulbs—is dimming. Instead, designers are discreetly tucking much-improved LED lights in every nook to create a more modern mood. I’m OBSESSED with this look—these light sources shine discreetly at different levels in a room and are so moody and cozy!

The Changing Direction of Architecture

At its most basic description, architecture is a discipline focused on shelter, but how that manifests in design continues to change with the changing direction of society and culture. In this link, nine renowned architects share how trends impact their work and what their clients are requesting now (hint: highly personalized spaces that allow them to connect with their natural surroundings)…

Art Attractions On Tap in the Netherlands

Holland is celebrating the 350th anniversary of Dutch master Rembrandt’s death, as well as the Golden Age during which he lived and worked. The year-long effort will showcase hundreds of pieces of art by Rembrandt, as well as the works of other Dutch masters (some of whom Rembrandt taught). Hit the link for the exhibitions and events happening in 2019!

The Biggest Restaurant Trends of 2019

Plant-based options, a return to French classics, and phone-free dining are on the menu for 2019. With a new year here, Food & Wine tapped 13 forward-thinking chefs from around the country to talk about what they expect to see as far as restaurant trends on the horizon for the year ahead.

Running a 10k in a Wine Cellar

Running through an underground wine city just might be a 10k I could get down with. Milestii Mici Winery in Moldova, located in between Romania and the Ukraine, held a full 10K run almost entirely underground last week. The winery is famous for its massive wine cellar which features over 200 kilometers of underground storage that holds about 2 million bottles (and a Guinness World Record!). I certainly hope they served wine at the end!

Achieving Kitchen Organizational Greatness

A round-up of several organizational products that will send you on your way to kitchen and pantry greatness. I love these nesting bowls, which include everything from mixing bowls to measuring cups to a colander. There are also some great ideas for tight storage spaces!

I hope everyone has a wonderful and relaxing rest of your weekend!

As a fellow wine-lover/10K-hater, I’m in for the next Moldova fun run!

I hear you. Even better – perhaps we could do more like a 5k, or maybe a 10k but all walking with a drink in hand… 😄
