For most, Memorial Day kicks off our first long weekend of summery weather, and nothing says summer like a grill party! If you need a last-minute grilling recipe idea, I thought there were some really interesting (and appetizing!) ideas in here: 19 Quick & Easy Recipes We’re Making for Memorial Day.

A recent study concluded that sleeping less than five hours a night on the weekdays and weekends was related to a higher mortality risk compared to those who consistently sleep around six to seven hours each night. More surprisingly, short weekend sleep was associated with an increased mortality rate in people under age 65. While the study also supports the idea that consistently getting six to seven hours of sleep a night is ideal, when that’s not possible, making up for lack of sleep on the weekends is the best alternative. So when Saturday and Sunday come around, snooze away and sleep in!

One of my favorite readers sent in this article on the top 5 outdoor design trends for summer. Just as I get my string lights up semi-permanently, now I hear they are OUT already!! Instead, more outdoor light fixtures with shaded fabrics, i.e. lamps, are on the rise. See what else is in for outdoors…

Yep, I’m still into Royal Wedding news! This is a bit of an overview about Clare Waight Keller, who somewhat surprisingly snagged the most sought-after gig in all of fashion design in designing Meghan Markle’s dress. I also read somewhere else that she went so far to keep the secret that she kept the news under wraps even from her husband and their children until the morning of the wedding!

Did everyone hear it was National Wine Day this week? (like we all really needed another reason to drink wine!) These were some recommended top 10 US Destinations for National Wine Day, or as I see it, a quick guide to some lesser-known spots to wine-taste in the US! Anchorage, Alaska, anyone?!

If you don’t have exciting out-of-town plans this year for Memorial Day weekend, you can still do plenty of damage online! There are sales galore this weekend. This is a pretty darn comprehensive guide to sales all across the US in different areas. However it didn’t include my favorite, Nordstrom, which is also having the half-yearly sale for men, women, kids and home! Anyway, happy discount shopping, whatever your preference is!
